prepare for the future!
The focus of our Give Local 757 giving campaign for 2026 is to support the salary of the VCC Executive Director position into the future.
The focus of VCC’s mission is arts education and performance. The organization has worked throughout our 34-year history to keep the artistic salaries we pay at a competitive level for the Hampton Roads area. However, our Executive Director position has not kept up quite as well.
As VCC approaches our current Executive Director’s retirement at the end of June, we recognize the need to pay a more competitive salary for this important position. At other arts organizations, this has been achieved by having a portion of the salary supported by a special-purpose fund, which we are now establishing at VCC. This will help us attract the best candidates now, add part-time staff in the future, and accomplish expanded marketing and fundraising goals for VCC. Properly funding these important goals will increase our visibility in Hampton Roads and position VCC to attract and serve more students.
Our choirs have each established a fundraising page with a goal of $2,500 during this Give Local 757 day of giving. Your donation through the Concert Choir page will help our choir group get the largest donation total! The Concert Choir singers are deeply committed to creating and sharing beautiful music together, here in Hampton Roads and on tour, and sincerely appreciate any support you are able to provide.
Donations can be made beginning now and ending with the annual 24-hour Give Local 757 day on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 from 12 a.m. to 12 p.m. If we get the most donations, each student in the Concert Choir will win an individual prize and we will be recognized at our Celebration of Song concert on Saturday, May 9th.
In addition, one of the winning choir’s donors will receive a special opportunity to send a greeting to a person of their choice via a special song sung by the Concert Choir. This drawing will be done in June 2026 and the song, agreed upon by the winner and our Choir Director, will be recorded and delivered during our 35th anniversary season in 2026-2027.
