2025 has brought:

Growing numbers seeking food support

Rising food costs

Decreasing local resources

We have been adding programs to address these needs and providing more food than ever. To address the poverty of our neighbors our services have grown to include: a clothing closet, toiletries, a weekly choice pantry, and bus passes. 

SAME continues to meet the needs of some of the most vulnerable in our community. We offer not only a hot meal, but a place where each individual is treated with love, respect and dignity.  We continue to be one of the few Foodbank Partner Agencies to provide home delivery of groceries to those without transportation and who are unable to access drive-thru food distributions.

Who We Are

The mission of SAME is to create an interfaith community by addressing nutritional and physical needs with our neighbors who are homeless or living in poverty so we might together experience the fullness of God’s love and grace. Since the 1960s, Hampton Baptist Church has worked to alleviate the hunger of our neighbors in downtown Hampton. In 2015 we changed the name of our soup kitchen to SAME – So All May Eat to better reflect the purpose of our ministry which is to not only feed those in need, but also to acknowledge that everyone’s worth in the eyes of God is the SAME. From our Monday hot lunch program (which includes a clothing closet and toiletry distribution) to our monthly Mobile Food Pantry (where we partner with the Foodbank to bring groceries to 100 families), SAME is a place where the worth of our many volunteers and guests are equally valued and celebrated.
