Amy's SAME Fundraiser

Sometimes we just don't notice.... or when we do notice, we turn away from the poverty we see. Then we ask the questions:  "Why does he need food...he's so large?", "Why does she drive a fancy car to come get food?", "Why doesn't that mother take better care of her kid?".  At SAME I have learned that not everyone has had the advantages I have had. I have also learned that many times the answers to these questions are not only out of my realm of experience, they are heart breaking. At SAME I have learned that each individual, no matter their station in life, no matter how they live their life, has something to teach me and show me about love and kindness.... about hope and faith, and that their WORTH as a human being is equal to my own.

SAME is a place where the barriers between volunteers and neighbors are broken down. Where a neighbor who hasn't showered in a while is welcomed in with the same smiles and warm embraces as the volunteers who greet each other. At SAME we share in the goodness that we have, both volunteers and neighbors: a hot meal, clean clothing, fresh produce, frozen meat and fish, hygiene products, bus passes.
