Hey Folks,
As you may know, back in November we wanted to affiliate our community music /pot luck gathering with a worthy cause to give back to our community.  Finding the good folks at S.A.M.E. was more than I could have hoped for.  They are the kind of organization you want to believe exists, and for all the right reasons.  Kelly Murphy and I went and visited them in action. The kindness and care I witnessed, offering respect and dignity to those in need ... was humbling.
I just learned they do only one fundraiser each year through GiveLocal757, and it made me want to help spread the word and help with a fundraising campaign on their behalf.
I believe every dollar you spend is a vote for the world you want to live in, and I believe the world is better with this amazing and thoughtful organization.  Please consider learning more about them, and contributing if you can.

At SAME, we work to foster meaningful relationships between volunteers and guests working to create lives free from hunger. Since the 1960s, Hampton Baptist Church has been a place of welcome to both volunteers and neighbors who are facing food insecurity.

Together we work to ensure that each individual is treated with love and respect through the sharing of food, clothing, and toiletries. In addition, we distribute bus passes and once a month partner with the Foodbank to distribute groceries to over 100 households.... many of whom have no transportation.

In addition, we bring in groups to offer hard to access services such as counseling and voter registration.

It is only with the support of our community that we are able to do this work and to ensure that those in our community who are not among the wealthy, who live on the street or in their cars, those who are seniors trying to make ends meet, or young children born into families without means, are all met with love and kindness and told through these tangible means that their WORTH is just the SAME as the volunteers who come to serve.
