For over 85 years, The Planning Council has improved quality of life across Hampton Roads through research, planning, and programs that address housing, public health, education, and economic stability. Through creative partnerships, diligent research, expert planning, and good management, The Planning Council delivers comprehensive solutions and services to the people and communities it serves.  

We partner to create new initiatives and long-term programs from affordable housing and homeless prevention efforts, to ensuring access to quality childcare providers, to providing nutrition and wellness training, medical and dental clinics and mental health treatment. Since 1941, this nonprofit has been a leader in transforming ideas and dreams – supplemented by good information and data – into reality. 

The Planning Council was named a Top Workplace by Inside Business in 2025.
