Keeping Dance Accessible: Support VA Beach Dancers

At Children’s Dance Theatre, Inc., we believe dance is a powerful tool for confidence, connection, discipline, and self-expression. Based in the Little Neck / Kings Grant area of Virginia Beach, our nonprofit supports the Music in Motion Dance Company, a program designed to give young dancers performance, leadership, and educational opportunities.

Our dancers train year-round and perform throughout the community, including at local events, nursing homes, fundraisers, and outreach programs. Through these experiences, students learn not only technique and artistry, but also compassion, teamwork, and service. Many of our dancers grow into leaders, mentors, and role models both inside and outside the studio.

At the heart of our mission is accessibility.

We know that talent, dedication, and love for dance exist in every community, but access does not always come equally. That’s why we created our Darlene Davenport Dance Legacy Scholarship.

Created in honor of a beloved mentor, supporter of the arts, and former owner of Music in Motion Dance Studio, this scholarship reflects a legacy of generosity, encouragement, and belief in young people. It provides financial assistance to dancers who demonstrate commitment, talent, and a desire to grow but may lack the resources to continue their training.

Together, these programs ensure that children are not excluded from dance due to financial barriers. Scholarships support tuition, participation costs, and access to enriching performance experiences that help students thrive artistically and personally.

Through this Give 757 campaign, our goal is to grow our scholarship fund so we can serve more children across Virginia Beach. Your gift directly helps us:
