Lend a Paw - Support SEVA GRREAT

There are many reasons that I support Southeastern Virginia Golden Retriever Rescue, Education and Training (SEVA GRREAT).  I have been a volunteer with SEVA GRREAT for almost 15 years.  During this time, I have volunteered at and coordinated events in the Richmond area.  Through these events, I have been proud to raise awareness and funds to support the rescue.  Many of the volunteers I met at the events have become good friends. I have also been fortunate to get to meet many dogs that we have found forever homes for and then see them year after year and hear how they have thrived in their forever homes and how much they mean to their families.  

All of this would be reason enough to support SEVA GRREAT, but the biggest reason I support the rescue is the happy guy in the picture above.  A couple of months after we said goodbye to our golden Bosley, I was asked if I would help out and foster Tommy, a golden from Turkey.  I figured we would foster Tommy for a couple of weeks and then he would go to his forever home.   I think everyone but me knew that we would foster fail, and Tommy would soon become an official part of our family.  Tommy was a little tough at first but working with him and seeing him learn to trust us and even count on us is a great feeling.  In reality we needed each other, as we were the perfect home for him, and he was the perfect dog for us.  Now almost seven years later, Marc and I still feel so lucky to have Tommy as part of our family and we have SEVA GRREAT to thank.
