Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was founded on January 13, 1913, by 22 collegiate women at Howard University to promote academic excellence and provide assistance to those in need. The Founders of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., envisioned an organization committed to sisterhood, scholarship, service, and addressing the social issues of the time. The Williamsburg Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered on December 5, 1981, at the Hospitality House in Williamsburg, Virginia, by seventeen women who had a desire to provide service to their community. The chapter service area encompasses the City of Williamsburg, James City County, York County, Mathews County, and Gloucester County. We continue to provide support for our community by offering scholarships to local youth, supporting our community partners, and by offering programs that are founded on our Five-Point Programmatic Thrust: Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness & Involvement, Political Awareness & Involvement, and Physical and Mental Health. We could not offer our programs and support our community without the support of the community in our philanthropic endeavors.
