At Social Butterflies Foundation, we believe no one should have to battle lupus or fibromyalgia alone. These chronic illnesses can be invisible to the outside world but devastating to those who live with them every day. Pain, isolation, and fear often go hand-in-hand with these diagnoses — especially for women and communities of color, who are disproportionately affected.

Our mission is simple but powerful: uplift, empower, and support thrivers. Through free support groups, emergency assistance, scholarships, mental health programs, and our annual Health & Wellness Summit, we connect survivors and their families with hope, community, and resources that help them live fuller, brighter lives.

Who We Are

Social Butterflies Foundation was founded by lupus survivor, Chastity Corbett. It is a grassroots organization dedicated to helping those battling with lupus and fibromyalgia, as well as their families and caregivers. Our mission is to provide education, support services, and encouragement to empower and uplift those living with lupus and fibromyalgia in effort to help them and their families face the challenges of these debilitating illnesses with no cure. There are over 195,000 Virginians combined living with lupus and/or fibromyalgia.

Social Butterflies Foundation is the first and only organization located in the Hampton Roads community devoted to providing resources to both lupus and fibromyalgia survivors while raising awareness for illnesses that receive little to no attention yet threatens so many lives. It is our vision that no one living with lupus or fibromyalgia will have to endure the challenges of these life-threatening illnesses alone. Funds raised stay in the community to provide emergency financial assistance, support groups, college scholarships, summits and health fairs, care program for caregivers, outreach programs, advocacy, educational services, and to support research for a cure.
