Since 2022, the American Rescue Plan Act has provided over 32,000 meals annually to low-income, isolated seniors. But at the end of 2024, that crucial funding came to an end. And since January, we have responded to an influx of applicants by welcoming over 80 seniors, and are now serving over 200 a day. Most cannot afford to pay the full cost of their meals, and 100 receive meals and supportive services completely free of charge. That's where you come in! Your generosity ensures that our elderly seniors will continue to receive the meals, safety checks, and other program services they depend on. 

Simply put: when a food-insecure, disabled senior needs us, we help—no matter the cost. Because it's the right thing to do. At Meals on Wheels of Chesapeake, we’re driven by heart, trusting that when we do right by our older and disabled neighbors, the support they need will follow. We sleep better knowing those we serve are cared for, but we need your help to continue this work as the need among seniors grows. 

"I can't prepare food. Even making a sandwich is hard. I can't stand without my walker and I have to use my hands to grip the walker. Before Meals on Wheels, I sometimes had to order out. But that was very limited because I couldn't afford it. With Meals on Wheels, I can eat things I have not had for a long time: vegetables, fruit, noodles, meat loaf, mashed potatoes.... It's been a blessing." –Ms. Jacqueline
