Mindful Gardening to Preserve Planet Earth

The Williamsburg Botanical Garden:

  • Showcases plants that support pollinators and wildlife;
  • Is a resource to educate visitors about environmental conservation, including the importance of native plants and the control of invasive species;
  • And demonstrates sustainable gardening practices for a typical garden in the Virginia Peninsula area.

The Garden is free to visit every day of the year from 7 a.m. until sunset, including Sundays and holidays. ADA Compliant and canine friendly.

The Garden is a unique 2-acre collection of informal plantings that represent distinct ecosystems found in the Virginia Coastal Plain. From the Wildflower Meadow and Heirloom Garden to the Pine Woods, Fernery, and Native Grasses areas, you'll see and learn about plants that grow well in our specific area, support pollinators, and create habitat for wildlife.

We welcomed over 18,000 visitors in 2024, and over 100 volunteers gave more than 5,500 hours of their time both in the Garden and behind the scenes.

The Garden is an all-volunteer organization. We rely on the generosity of the community and visitors to sustain an annual operating budget of over $25,000 which does not include special projects.
