The Vineyard Storehouse

As a representative of the Vineyard Storehouse, a nonprofit organization established eight years ago, I am reaching out to emphasize the significance of providing access to fresh, locally-sourced foods to our community. We take pride in offering products that are free from preservatives and chemicals from nearby farms, as well as Halal meats from local butchers. By doing this, we strive to bring about a healthier, more understanding environment for our community. 

In line with the same mission, we are actively working on a project to expand our reach and provide solutions to existing food deserts in Hampton, Newport News and other cities across the country. Solutions to these societal issues require collective effort and support, and so we urge our entire community to get involved. By coming together, we can make a statement against diet related health issues such as obesity and diabetes, as well as help combat alarming levels of food insecurity across the region. Statistics reveal that food insecurity in Hampton, VA is 22.9%, while the figure stands higher in Newport News at 24.6%. Moreover, the pandemic has resulted in increased struggles with food insecurity, and the Vineyard Storehouse has served over 300,000 families during this time of crisis.
