We are the Local Program Partner for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library across the Virginia Peninsulas, mailing free, high-quality, age-appropriate books every month to more than 6,500 children from birth through age five. The books arrive at no cost to families regardless of income or background. 61% of low-income families have no children's books at home, and every delivery builds a home library while inspiring a love of reading that lasts a lifetime.

But families on the Peninsula have been unable to enroll online for over 14 months due to limited funding.

A parent in Newport News, Hampton, York County, or Poquoson who hears about the program, and the opportunity to get free books for their child,  hits a dead end when they try to sign up. You can help restore online enrollment and reopen access to free books to hundreds of Peninsula children by supporting us during Give Local 757. 

Every $31 donated is matched by the Commonwealth of Virginia and will provide 2 kids with free monthly books for a whole year.

Since we first launched the Imagination Library for the Virginia Peninsulas in 2019, we have mailed over 245,000 free books and served over 15,000 children.
