$10,000 Goal

HPS is a play to learn school for children ages 2 through second grade.  We are dedicated to providing developmentally appropriate learning experiences in a safe, nurturing environment. All of our classrooms foster positive relationships, engaging activities with student choice, and opportunities to explore. We provide quality experiences in a safe environment and our teacher-student ratios are low. We value family involvement and a smooth transition to your child's next learning experience.

The money raised will provide scholarships for families who may not be able to attend HPS otherwise. We are also hoping to enhance our gym space with new indoor activity equipment. This will provide engaging, active options for students during extended care and on days when weather keeps us inside. These additions will help ensure our students continue to stay active, build social skills, and have fun—rain or shine.

Who We Are

Hidenwood Presbyterian School, in partnership with Hidenwood Presbyterian Church, provides a weekday education program for children ages two through second grade in an environment that reflects Christian values such as kindness, respect, and care for others.

While our curriculum is not religious-based, we intentionally create a welcoming, supportive atmosphere where children learn the importance of compassion, community, and belonging. Our goal is to support the growth of the whole child—intellectually, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually—through meaningful, hands-on experiences.

A typical day at HPS is thoughtfully balanced to include both structured learning and purposeful play. Students begin with circle time or a morning meeting focused on connection, sharing, and building classroom community. Throughout the day, children engage in creative art projects, guided learning of new concepts, music and movement, and hands-on exploration. Outdoor play and gross motor time are important parts of the daily routine, along with snack time and opportunities for free play that encourage independence and social growth.

Our K–2 students participate in Literacy, Math, Science, and Social Studies through authentic, engaging tasks, as well as enrichment opportunities such as Music, Library, and Chapel. We follow the Virginia Standards of Learning and present them in a way that meets each child where they are, helping every student build confidence and a strong foundation for future success.

Let's play, learn and grow together!
