Fruitful Blessings Inc.

Fruitful Blessings Inc. was formed in 2020 to serve families in need, schools and the homeless community. Our focus is to engage the community and partner with other nonprofits to provide charitable contributions, such as, bus passes, personal care items and school supplies. 

Our co-director Monica Thomas was an educator in Chesapeake and saw how some kids did not have lunch, or the proper supplies during the school year. So, we decided we wanted to build a minipantry where students or teachers could grab items they needed anytime. Currently we have three minipantries, one at Seatack Elementary, Newtown Elementary and College Park Elementary School. Every 6 to 8 weeks we re-stock the minipantry with school supplies and snack bags. We give the snack bags to the counselors, and they hand them out to students in need.  For the holidays we provide families with turkey/ham dinners. 

Throughout the year, we go The Housing Center in Norfolk, winter shelters, and partner with other local non-profits to feed the homeless.  Most of the time when we go feed the homeless, we provide clothing, shoes and bus passes. 

Our goal this Giving Day is to raise enough funds to put another minipantry in a school this year. Also, we want to continue to give out bus passes and personal care kits to the homeless community. A long-term goal would be to own a Soup kitchen or pantry at one location where families and homeless indivduals could come get items.
