Friends of Norfolk Animal Care Center (FNACC) is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit created to support the important work of the Norfolk Animal Care Center.

Through your generosity, Friends of Norfolk Animal Care Center (FNACC) can support vital programs that directly impact animals and families at Norfolk Animal Care Center and in our community, including:
 
 -Specialized medical care for animals with urgent or unique needs
- A free monthly spay/neuter clinic for Norfolk residents
 - Free pet food through our on-site and mobile Pet Pantry
 - Essential supplies for foster families
 - Subsidized adoptions through events and initiatives like the Golden Paws program for senior pets and Best Buds

Founded in 2005, Friends began with a simple mission: to provide additional medical care for animals in Norfolk’s city shelter. What started with a single $750 donation quickly grew into a passionate effort by a small group of community members determined to make a difference.

Since officially becoming Friends of the Norfolk Animal Care Center in 2008, the organization has expanded from a six-member board to a 12-member team supported by dedicated volunteers and donors. That initial donation has grown into an annual operating budget of nearly $100,000, all of which goes directly back into supporting Norfolk’s shelter animals and the community.

While the City of Norfolk provides essential care like housing, food, and vaccinations, many animals arrive with additional needs. FNACC helps bridge that gap by funding the extra care, resources, and programs that give each pet the best possible chance at a happy, healthy life.

Together with shelter staff and volunteers, Friends of NACC remains committed to creating brighter futures for Norfolk’s animals—because every pet deserves a chance at a better life. 🐾

Who We Are

Friends of Norfolk Animal Care Center is a a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to support the Norfolk Animal Care Center in sheltering and caring for Norfolk's stray and homeless animals, to promote and facilitate adoptions, to assist with special medical care, to promote and support spay/neuter in the community and to educate the public about responsible pet ownership.
