Dreams of Hope Foundation

At Dreams of Hope Foundation, we are committed to eliminating barriers for individuals and families in our community. Dreams of Hope Foundation believes that the basic needs of all clients must be met first in order to address mental illness effectively. Our organization provides hot meals to all of our clients on-site. During the week, we also provide a hot breakfast and lunch to the clients attending our Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program, as well as anyone else in need. Additionally, we host a weekly food pantry on Wednesdays to give anyone who is in need of it.

Dreams of Hope Foundation’s impact can be felt across the Hampton Roads community. In 2024, Dreams of Hope Foundation served 17,753 hot meals, 7,591 nights of shelter provided to individuals with a serious mental illness. Additionally, we provided 3,114 hours of free mental health services. We were successful in assisting individuals to manage their medications by providing 785 prescriptions. By providing services, we are able to prevent hospitalizations, reduce ambulance and police visits, and provide mental health resources. All individuals served are of a high-risk population. This includes mental health diagnoses, COPD, heart conditions, and autoimmune deficiency disorders. Many of the clients reported that if it was not for Dreams of Hope, they would have had life-changing events.  

Recipient 1 – “If Dreams of Hope did not help me with obtaining and taking my prescription, I would be locked up because taking my medicine is part of my probation.”

Recipient 2- “Oh my gosh, Dreams of Hope has saved my life! If it was not for the program I would be detoxing, cutting, and active in bulimia, and probably in hospital. Or have had a suicide attempt.”

Recipient 3- “Thank you so much for this program! I needed to get my son’s inhaler. He needs it and we couldn’t afford it this month due to hard times.”
