Transitions Family Violence Services

Transitions Family Violence Services is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and human trafficking on the Virginia Peninsula. Since 1977, we have been committed to offering free, confidential, and comprehensive services to survivors; serving as a pathway to safety and source of hope for thousands of individuals and families. 

We believe every individual has the right to:

• Safety: Every person has the right to feel safe and be safe.
• Empowerment: Every person has the right to be supported in developing to her or his fullest potential.
• Dignity & Respect: Every person has the right to be treated with dignity and respect.
• Access: Every person who has been victimized by domestic violence or human trafficking has the right to timely, free, and culturally appropriate services including trainings and community conversation.

• Transitions Family Violence Services philosophy is to provide safety and support, empowerment and advocacy, and education to allow persons accessing services to make choices without fear, coercion, or undue influence.

Transitions Family Violence Services is soon to celebrate 50 years of supporting survivors and their families through supportive services, partnerships, and community collaborations.
