No Shame. Period.

WHO IS THE NSP TEAM - We are an *all-volunteer* but a dedicated group of individuals from all different walks of life that have devoted our time, skills, attention, and effort to keeping elementary and middle school students in class comfortably and confidently by providing period packs, informational pamphlets, and spare pants to school nurses for their students. 

WHAT IS OUR VISION - For students in schools all throughout Hampton Roads to have NO SHAME about their PERIODS! Menstruation is something that affects 50% of the population and is normal and natural, however there is still far too much stigma and misinformation about periods, even in 2026. We want to change that by providing period products and personal items to our students in need so that a day that could have been traumatic due to a first/ heavy/ irregular period, becomes just another school day because someone thought ahead and took care of them. 

Along with caring for students with physical supplies, we also want to utilize our outreach into the schools and community to get the conversation and questions about menstruation started earlier! Girls as young as 7 or 8 can get their first period, which is roughly 2nd or 3rd grade. Current family life teaching about menstruation doesn't start until late 4th or even late 5th grade! By then many students have had someone in their class start, and this means that many kids in elementary school start their period at school and if a parent or guardian hasn’t discussed it with them beforehand, they are completely unprepared. We want to make sure that all students have access to a comprehensive menstruation education by the time they’re in 5th grade, but with a first discussion starting no later than the beginning of third 3rd. This will ensure the majority of menstruating students can experience a first period at school without any trauma or shame, which sets them up for success with understanding their periods, their body, and their health better in the future. 

MISSION - To erase the shame and stigma of menstruation for this generation of students in Hampton Roads and beyond.
