Founded in 1966, Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia is a non-profit law firm that provides representation in civil matters to the low-income residents of Hampton Roads and the Eastern Shore. Our mission is to promote the equal application of justice and remove impediments to fairness for the low-income and vulnerable families of eastern Virginia.  We strive to both meet the individual legal needs of our clients and to challenge systemic injustice and the root causes of poverty and inequality. Your donation today supports the work of our attorneys, social workers, legal assistants and community advocates as we seek to provide the highest level of service for our clients.

Why support LASEV? For our 2024-2025 reporting year, LASEV was able to assist over 18,000 people with legal matters including eviction defense, public benefit denials, family law, protective orders, bankruptcies and much more. With over 350 outreach events yearly, LASEV meets clients where they are throughout Hampton Roads by providing legal representation or advice in civil matters. With offices in Hampton, Norfolk, Williamsburg and the Eastern Shore, LASEV is strategically located in the areas of highest need. In addition to legal services, LASEV sponsors educational workshops and events throughout our service area, providing the current legal information residents need to feel empowered in their choices. Our Homeless Veteran Unit and Disability Rights Unit provide additional critical services for vulnerable populations in Hampton Roads.
