In Puerto Rico and across the Caribbean, thousands of dogs(Satos) and cats(Gatos) are waiting for help. They are born into abandonment, left to fend for themselves, and too often face illness, injury, and suffering without access to consistent rescue resources. While many communities in the mainland U.S., including here in Virginia, have strong shelter systems and adoption networks, the reality is that in many parts of the Caribbean, those safety nets simply don’t exist.

That’s where we step in.

At Caribbean Paws Adoption Network (formerly Island Dog Rescue Adoption Network), we work alongside dedicated rescue partners on the island to fill a critical gap—providing medical care, safe foster placement, and a pathway to adoption that wouldn’t otherwise be possible. By bringing these animals to communities like ours, we’re not taking resources away from local pets—we’re expanding the reach of rescue.  Every animal we save is one that likely would not have had another chance.
