Homes Fur Hounds is a non-profit registered 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization.   We are a small non-profit and rely solely on donations and community support. We are all volunteers who have dedicated our lives to rescuing and saving homeless, unwanted, abandoned, neglected, and abused small dogs. 100% of our donations go to help the animals. We save most of our animals from kill shelters around the state, but also accept owner surrenders and stray surrenders. Unlike many small rescue groups, we are willing to take in heartworm positive dogs, seniors, blind and deaf dogs, pregnant moms and dogs with known medical issues such as diabetes.

We do not have a shelter facility and operate solely out of foster homes. This ensures that all of our dogs learn the skills they need to be successful family members when they move to their forever homes.

We spay/neuter, vaccinate, medically examine, microchip, and evaluate and/or socialize all dogs that come into our rescue before adopting to pre-screened homes. To date, we have placed over 1,100 dogs in loving homes.

Our goal is simple: to find great, lifelong, loving homes for as many small dogs as possible.

Some of our Happy Tales

Like a predictable routine, as deer-hunting season draws to a close, Beagles and Hounds are abandoned, left to survive on their own. If they are found alive, they are typically malnourished, injured, and suffering from parasites, illness, and disease. Heidi, Chaplin, and Snowflake Clover are among the many hunting dogs we have rescued. These dogs endured a lifetime outdoors in filthy conditions, with minimal socialization or proper care. The effort and expense to rehabilitate them are immense. However, thanks to our incredible volunteers, days like today, and community support, these dogs are now ready for their forever homes. Heidi and Chaplin are a bonded, mature pair, and little Snowflake Clover has a manageable seizure condition. More information can be found on our website

This is Brady. She was surrendered to the local humane society very pregnant and clearly neglected, lacking essential prenatal care. Thankfully, our volunteers and fosters experienced in birthing stepped in, and within hours of her arrival, Brady gave birth to six beautiful puppies. All the “Brady Bunch” pups are happy, healthy, and thriving in their new homes. Thanks to generous donations on days like today, we can rescue dogs like Brady and her Bunch, and give them everything they need, including essential medical care.

Meet Chipper! When he first arrived, he was severely emaciated and on the brink of starvation. His malnutrition was so severe that his bones were fragile, and he even broke his leg from a small jump. Chipper required surgery to fix his leg, and thanks to days like today, we were able to provide the necessary medical care. Now, Chipper has found a loving family who is dedicated to helping him adjust and feel at home.

Meet Mindy! She was surrendered because her owner couldn't afford her costly medical care. This little senior arrived in rough condition, but we quickly got her groomed and placed her into foster care. Mindy is feeling much better and is thriving in her new home. This little lady is thoroughly pampered and will spend the rest of her days living like the princess she truly is. Without the generous support of our community, she likely would have faced euthanasia.

Meet Fresca. He came from a dreadful hoarding and breeding situation. We rescued several dogs from this case, all in various stages of neglect. They were filthy, matted, infested with fleas, ticks, and parasites, and completely terrified of humans. While it took a lot of resources, all of these dogs have found loving homes—except for Fresca. Although he is in a wonderful, loving, and patient foster home, he is still terrified of human touch and has not allowed anyone to touch him willingly for nine months. Additionally, he suffers from Alopecia, and his hair will not grow back. Thanks to your generosity, we can continue to work with him and his unique needs until the perfect home comes along. Meet Auntie Em! She isn't the typical dog we usually take in, but her story is special. Abandoned, heartworm positive, pregnant, and left in a cold shelter, Auntie Em needed urgent help. Thankfully, one of our fosters stepped up to care for her. Em gave birth to four beautiful puppies, all of whom are thriving in their new homes. She also successfully completed her heartworm treatment and is now heartworm negative. Em has been with us for three years, making her our longest foster. She's a wonderful dog with a lot of potential, but she needs to be the only pet in her future home. We are fully committed to every dog we rescue, and thanks to generous donations from days like today, we can keep her happy and healthy until her perfect family comes along. More information can be found on our website
