Grove Christian Outreach Center

Recognizing the needs of vulnerable families in the greater Williamsburg area, Grove Christian Outreach Center became an independent nonprofit charitable organization in 2004 with a mission to provide food, clothing, and financial assistance to neighbors facing hardship. Over more than two decades, Grove’s programs have intentionally evolved to respond to changing community needs while remaining rooted in dignity, access, and relationship based care.

Today, Grove’s services extend well beyond emergency support and include:

• Weekly food access through a choice based free grocery market
• Home delivery programs for homebound seniors and individuals with limited mobility
• School supply and seasonal support programs to ensure children are equipped for success
• Holiday programs that honor family traditions and restore a sense of normalcy and celebration
• Community based initiatives focused on nutrition, sustainability, and long term stability

What began as a single wide trailer serving families in the Grove mobile home community has grown into a 6,000 square foot custom built facility that now houses all programs and services. Since moving into this facility in 2013, Grove has steadily increased both capacity and reach. Annual pantry usage has grown from serving several hundred households to nearly 900 unique households in recent years, reflecting both increased need and trusted community presence.

In 2024, Grove served 878 unduplicated households through its food programs, accounting for more than 10,400 market visits and impacting over 40,000 individuals across all services. Looking ahead to 2025, Grove is preparing to support more than 1,100 households annually through expanded food access, outreach, and stabilization services as demand continues to rise in the region.
