  1. WHAT is Give Local 757? Give Local 757 is an initiative that provides nonprofits the opportunity to build capacity, gain exposure for their causes and cultivate relationships with new donors. It is also an opportunity for our region to come together to strengthen our nonprofits by sparking and growing philanthropy in Hampton Roads. 
  2. WHEN is the annual 24 hour giving day?  Tuesday, May 14, 2019 beginning at midnight.  The website is available year-round for those wanting to connect with causes they are passionate about, track their local giving or to schedule a donation, recurring or otherwise. 
  3. WHO can donate? Anyone and everyone by clicking the 'DONATE' button at www.givelocal757.org
  4. Can I fundraise for a participating nonprofit? YES by clicking on the 'FUNDRAISE' button at www.givelocal757.org

  6. What is a "unique donor?" For the purposes of awarding prizes, a unique donor is one individual or corporation/business. Multiple donations from one donor to the same nonprofit will count as one gift.
  7. What forms of donations are accepted? By credit card at givelocal757.org  Checks are also accepted with completed form and mailed to the Peninsula Community Foundation, 48 W. Queens Way, Hampton, VA 23669, the week before May 14, 201. Check donations do not count towards prizes.
  8. Are gifts tax-deductible? All donations are tax deductible and irrevocable and will be for the unrestricted use of your chosen charity.
  9. Is there a minimum gift? Yes, the minimum donation is $10.
  10. How will the donations be reported on my credit card statement? Your credit card statement will read 'PENINSULA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF VIRGINIA'.
  11. May I pay a pledge as my Give Local 757 donation? Giving Day is designed to generate new support, not to pay off existing pledges.
  12. May I designate how a nonprofit uses my gift? Giving Day gifts are considered unrestricted gifts to the nonprofit. You may express your desire that your gift be used for a specific program or project (in the notes field of the giving form).
  13. How much of the donation will go to the nonprofit? All donations will be paid to the chosen charity, net of credit card transaction and processing fees (5.1% + .30 per transaction). These fees may be paid by the donor by electing the "Cover fees" option on the donation form.
  14. Can I make my donation over the phone? Smart phones that allow you to make a credit card donation online enable you to contribute in this way. 
  15. May I use my Giving Day donation to buy event tickets, museum memberships, or other things that provide me a benefit? No, donations may not be used to pay for anything that might be perceived as a material benefit to the donor, advisor or other disqualified person - including dinner tickets, membership fees, golf fees, admission tickets or other gifts.
  16. What organizations are eligible to participate? All 501-c-3 nonprofit organizations providing services in the 757 area code are eligible to participate.  Click here to apply before the registration deadline, April 15, 2019. Registration fee before December 1, 2018 is $100 and after is $175. The fees are directly invested into the promotion and hosting of the event.
  17. What if I can't find my favorite nonprofit on the website? If you can't find them on the site, they have not registered to participate in the Give Local 757 program. Please contact the nonprofit to make them aware of the opportunity. 
Give Local 757 Rules
  1. If you are a 501c3 nonprofit that provides services in the 757 area code, you are eligible to participate in the Give Local 757.
  2. The minimum donation is $10. There is no maximum donation.
  3. Donations can be made by check or credit card. By credit or debit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover) at www.givelocal757.org between the hours of Midnight on May 8, 2018 until 11:59 p.m. on May 8, 2018. By check by completing check donation form and mailing along with check to PCF Virginia, 48 W. Queens Way, Hampton, VA 23669.  Checks must be made payable to "The Peninsula Community Foundation" with the name of the organization the donation is intended for in the memo line. 
  4. Grants from donor advised funds will be accepted toward Give Local 757 and processed through the community foundations.
  5. Checks and cash donations do not qualify for prizes.
  6. For purposes of awarding prizes that require unique gifts, multiple donations from one donor to the same nonprofit will count as one gift. A donor is defined as an individual or corporation/business.
  7. Donors are encouraged to make gifts to multiple organizations of their choice. Each unique gift of $10 or more to a different organization will be counted on the leaderboard.
  8. Each donor who enters their own credit card information directly on www.givelocal757.org is entering his/her data into a secure web portal provided by CiviCore. Sponsors of Give Local 757 assume no liability for credit/debit card information provided by the donor to a third party (e.g. organization staff member or volunteer).
  9. If two organizations tie for any of the bonus prizes, the system will deploy a electronic randomizer to choose a single winner.
  10. Organizations cannot donate to themselves; however, individuals who are employed by a non-profit can make personal donations to their employer.
  11. Donations may not be used to pay for anything that might be perceived as a material benefit to the donor, advisor or other disqualified person - including dinner tickets, membership fees, golf fees, admission tickets or other gifts.
  12. Each gift is 100% tax-deductible and irrevocable. All donations will be granted for unrestricted use by the chosen charities.
  13. Each donor who enters their own credit card information directly on www.givelocal757.org is entering his/her data into a secure web portal provided by CiviCore. Sponsors of Give Local 757 assume no liability for the credit/debit card information provided by the donor to a third party (e.g. organization, staff member, or volunteer).
  14. The fee for an eligible non-profit to participate is $100 for early bird registration (before November 1, 2018) and $175 after. The final date to register is April 15, 2018. (Note: We highly recommend registering as far in advance as possible in order to ensure an effective and successful fundraising effort.) The entire registration fee goes toward expenses such as training, marketing and other resources for the Give Local 757 event.
  15. Only those organizations with published profiles on givelocal757.org are eligible for donations and incentive pool prizes.
  16. All donations will be paid to the chosen charity net of credit card transaction and processing fees paid to vendors, (5.1% + .30 transaction fee). The Peninsula Community Foundation supports this giving event as a community service, the transaction fees are paid to STRIPE and CiviCore directly. Donors can elect to cover the transaction fee, 67% did so in 2018. The net payments/donations will be made directly to the Nonprofits bank. Each nonprofit is required to set up a merchant account with Stripe in order to receive payment.
  17. One organization cannot win both the Early Bird 50/50 Challenge and a Grand Prize cash award. If an organization qualifies for both, then they will receive the larger Grand Prize award. The Early Bird 50/50 Challenge then will be awarded to the next organization on the leaderboard.
  18. No single organization can win more than two prizes except for the Grand Prize and Early Bird 50/50 winners.
  19. Each nonprofit must complete their online profile no later than April 15, 2019 to participate.
  20. In the event of a tie for incentive prizes, it will be handled in the following manner:
    1. If two organizations tie for 1st place, each organization will receive half of the combined value of first and second place.
    2. If two organizations tie for 2nd place, each organization will receive half of the combined value of second and third place.
    3. If two organizations tie for 3rd place, each organization will receive half of the original value of third place.
