Alliance Française of Hampton Roads

Expanding awareness of French language and francophone culture since 1969.
Low-cost French classes, cultural celebrations, French conversation groups, support for K-12 French teachers, and more!

French and francophone culture since 1969!
We are the independent local chapter of the international Alliance Française network.
Our programs include:
Low-cost French classes for all ages
Pedagogical support for K-12 French teachers in the public schools
Free monthly French conversation groups throughout Hampton Roads
Annual speaking competition for area High School French students
Public cultural events (Bastille Day, Beaujolais Nouveau, Mardi Gras, Soirée Belge, Fête de la Musique) that add international flavor to the local calendar.
We offer programming to support awareness of the larger French-speaking world, especially former French colonies in North America and Africa.
We often collaborate with other Hampton Roads nonprofits to provide cultural and educational programming; our partners have included the Chrysler Museum, Old Dominion University, and Virginia Wesleyan College.

Our all-volunteer organization donates thousands of hours annually to foster international understanding and to provide opportunities and support for Franco-American friendship.
