Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization founded on January 13, 1913 by twenty-two college women on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. and is committed to public service with a primary focus on the Black community and to the constructive development of its more than 300,000 members.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. established the Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF) as a public charity supporting scholastic achievement, public service programs, and research initiatives focused upon African American women.

Hampton Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated with the Delta Research & Educational Foundation have worked to make Hampton and the surrounding communities better through our service.  We value community partnerships that allow us to continue to achieve the goals of our Sorority's Five Point Programmatic Thrust:

  • Economic Development
  • Educational Development
  • International Awareness and Involvement
  • Physical and Mental Health
  • Political Awareness and Involvement

Our chapter proudly offers scholarships to Hampton City School Students and provides youth programs for middle school girls (Delta Academy), middle school boys (EMBODI), and high school girls (Delta GEMS).  Our community outreach efforts include numerous Social Action events to educate voters; our Medical and Mental Health Wellness Fair, Fall Festival focusing on physical, financial, and mental health; Delta Dash 5K; Relay for Life; and St. Jude fundraising campaign.  Our membership proudly serves the city of Hampton and collaborates with community partners to further our mission of service to the community.
