Arrington Gavin, Founder/CEO of The Rugged Evolution Foundation started the 501(c)(3) non-profit in 2019 to make an impact while improving the lives of the youth in Hampton Roads. He recognized that improving the lives of others occurs at the local level. The foundation volunteers and partners with local churches, organizations and businesses to fulfill this mission. Every year various events and fundraisers are held to collect in kind donations and raise funds for the main initiative, which is the annual Back to School Giveaway held every August and Coat and Toy giveaway in December. School supplies, educational resources, new shoes, new backpacks , local barbers and beauticians offer free hair services, digital ID's provided by the local Sheriff department in addition to a day of fun with bounce houses, games, face painting and food are made available for K-12 students. The coats and toys are provided for all aged children in December. However, we also provide these resources throughout the year upon request as our supplies last. Most importantly, we make sure our youth know they matter and how important they are in the community. To date, the foundation has served over 3900 families through out Hampton Roads. Our future goals are to continue building a mentorship program for male adolescents and distribute book scholarships for college students.
